Our Story – An Independent Micropub in Melksham
We are a small, independent, family-run business, and in December 2025 we became the proud new owners of The Hiding Place. A much-loved micro-pub in the heart of Melksham.
From the moment we stepped behind the bar, we knew our role wasn’t to change what people already loved, but to care for it, grow it gently, and make it even more welcoming.
For us, it’s about people, connection, and creating a space that feels like it belongs to the community it sits in.
Why we took the leap
Before running a pub, our lives looked very different. Shari comes from a background in education, most recently working as senior leadership in education, with a deep passion for community, wellbeing, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel seen and supported.

Max comes from hospitality and a musical background, with a love for live performance, collaboration, and giving people a place to share their creativity and feel encouraged.

When The Hiding Place became available, it felt like the right place at the right time. A chance to combine our talents and experiences to build something meaningful, rooted in warmth, kindness and connection.

Offer our upstairs space for celebrations, meetings, workshops, WFH Wednesday and food pop up events

We believe pubs are still one of the most important community spaces we have. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet pint, meeting friends, opening your laptop for the day, or joining us for an event. We want The Hiding Place to feel exactly like its name suggests.
